Shayden Bresser

I am currently completing my B.A. and B.S. in Psychology and Criminal Justice at the University of Loyola Chicago and planning to pursue a doctoral program in Clinical Psychology.

My interest in neurobehavioral psychology developed after taking a course in developmental psychology and cognitive and behavioral neuroscience, where I began learning how neuroscience and behavior intersect to support individuals facing psychological challenges. I find it deeply rewarding to help people gain practical tools that empower them to overcome obstacles and improve their overall quality of life.

Through my experience at my internship at AFG Guidance Center under the supervision of Dr. Elena Labkovsky, I observed firsthand how neurobehavioral approaches can create meaningful change for individuals with a variety of psychological conditions. Seeing patients make measurable progress, both behaviorally and cognitively, reinforced my passion for this field.

I am particularly drawn to neurobehavioral therapy because of its individualized, non-pharmacological approach and the tangible outcomes it offers. This growing field provides innovative alternatives beyond traditional talk therapy or medication, allowing treatment plans to be tailored to each individual’s needs. I am especially intrigued by the ability to track progress not only through symptom improvement, but also through quantitative data and observable changes in brain functioning.

I am excited about the opportunity to continue developing my skills within a collaborative and dedicated clinical environment. Through my training and hands-on experience, I strive to be an empathetic, motivated, and dynamic contributor to this team.
