Clinical Psychology Training
Afg Guidance Center is a group private practice composed of psychiatrists, psychologists, and licensed clinical professional counselors. The clinical team at AFG Guidance Center is dedicated to helping children, adolescents, and families through a multidisciplinary approach to treatment. Our staff works together to provide practicum trainees with opportunities to learn about neuropsychological testing as well as diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Supervised training is a time to develop one’s professional skills and identity as a clinician and Afg Guidance Center’s training program offers clinical experiences in a variety of areas. All practicum positions at Afg Guidance Center are 20-24 hours per week of on-site training, over a period of 11 months starting in August and ending in July.
Practicum Opportunities:
Afg Guidance Center’s Assessment Practicum is designed for students working to complete a Diagnostic or Advanced Practicum placement in a multidisciplinary group private practice. Learn more about our Assessment Practicum placement.
Afg Guidance Center’s Therapy Practicum is designed for Master’s-level students who are working to complete their internship training OR Doctoral-level students who are working to complete a therapy practicum and are permitted by their program to be supervised by a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). Postdoctoral and Licensed Professional Counselor Positions
Afg Guidance Center’s Postdoctoral and Licensed Professional Counselor graduate experience is designed to meet the supervised clinical training criteria required for licensure as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois.
Afg Guidance Center’s Postdoctoral Clinician will work to provide individual, family, and group therapy services, comprehensive neuropsychological batteries, and diagnostic intake evaluations. Additionally, participation in individual supervision, group supervision, didactic meetings, and specialty seminars is required. Postdoctoral Clinicians also have the opportunity to provide supportive supervision to the externs engaged in the practice’s training program. Learn more about our Post-Doctoral experience.
Afg Guidance Center’s Supervised Licensed Professional Counselor position will work to provide individual, family, and group therapy services and complete diagnostic intake evaluations. Additionally, participation in individual supervision, group supervision, didactic meetings, and specialty seminars is required. The Supervised Licensed Professional Counselors also have the opportunity to provide supportive supervision and facilitate seminars with the practicum externs.
