Carly Brown, M.A., LPC
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Kenilworth, IL
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University. Prior to receiving my master’s degree, I gained diverse clinical experience in suicide prevention at multiple crisis hotlines, in addition to completing my clinical training at North Park Universities Counseling Services Center. As a counseling intern at North Park, I had the opportunity to work individually with students from all different backgrounds and presented with a wide range of issues such as: anxiety, depression, trauma, transitional issues, self-harm, disordered eating, academic problems, and identity and self-esteem issues. From this experience, I gained a particular interest in helping adolescents and young adults. I believe that both our adolescence and young adulthood is such a pivotal time in our lives. I am devoted to helping adolescents and young adults navigate any hardships.
Throughout my work in clinical training and psychotherapy, I strengthened my belief that the relationship with the client is the most important element to a successful and beneficial therapy experience. I vow to listen to every client in a non-judgmental manner and create a safe space to openly discuss your thoughts and emotions. Together we can strengthen your understanding of self, learn helpful coping strategies, and instill healing. I trust in a Person-Centered, CBT, and DBT approach to do this. I believe that everyone has the ability to be their best self, but sometimes need the guidance and tools to help get there. I believe my job is to walk alongside my client during their journey providing unconditional positive regard, guidance, and support.
I am excited to have joined the team at AFG Guidance Center to get the opportunity to help young people and their families. I am honored to be a part of a team who have the unanimous goal of helping people through a strong multi-disciplinary dynamic approach.
